Technical Note #25 Greenhouse Gas Reporting

The National Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulations were published on 3 April 2017. The current reporting threshold for brick manufacturing is set at 4 million bricks per month. Note that the CBA has sent a letter to the Department of Environmental Affairs requesting exemption but is currently awaiting feedback from the Department. In the meantime, the CBA would encourage its members to start the registration process as soon as possible. We applied for an extension for registration up to 31 May 2017.

Clay Brick manufacturers must register all South African facilities where activities exceed the reporting threshold. Registration must be completed according to Annexure 2 of Regulations and submitted in electronic format to the Department of Environmental Affairs (See excel document attached.)
